The best progress starts with a real connection: feeling seen, heard, and comfortable enough to try.

As a PSIA Alpine Level 3 and Telemark Level 3 instructor, as well as an AASI-certified snowboard instructor, I pair precise movement analysis with cues that make sense in the moment. My coaching experience also includes working with Olympic gold medalist Deb Armstrong’s SkiStrong group, an environment grounded in purposeful skiing, strong fundamentals, and lasting performance.

My specialty is helping cautious skiers replace tension and uncertainty with practical skills and genuine confidence. If you’re comfortable on basic blue runs but wonder what else you could explore, we’ll expand your mountain thoughtfully, one well-chosen step at a time. I listen closely, earn trust, and shape the day around how you learn.

That same care extends to the whole Steamboat experience. A deep understanding of the mountain, the town, and the rhythm of a day here helps me make thoughtful recommendations and keep things feeling easy, personal, and connected.

For many guests, coaching becomes a relationship that grows across visits and seasons, deepening familiarity, building confidence, and opening more of the mountain over time.

How I coach

Build trust first

We start with conversation, listen to what matters to you, and create a day that feels collaborative.

02

Build confidence with skill

Simple, focused tools make speed, turn shape, and changing snow feel more manageable.

03

Discover more mountain

Progress thoughtfully from familiar blues toward bumps, trees, steeper pitches, and soft snow.

Mountain & townA Steamboat day, thoughtfully shaped.

I draw on a deep knowledge of the terrain, changing conditions, the town, and its rhythms to help the day unfold with ease. That ranges from knowing where the snow is skiing best to understanding the small details that make time here feel more personal.

A thoughtful process

Feel secure.
Build skill.
Explore more.

01

Connect before we coach

We talk about what feels good, what makes you hesitate, how you learn, and where you’d like to go. Then I watch you ski, without pressure or rushed assumptions.

02

Find the highest-impact change

We'll focus on one clear movement or idea at a time, using terrain and tasks that make the new sensation easy to discover.

03

Make it yours

We apply the change in real skiing, across different terrain, until you understand when and how to use it independently.

Frequently asked

A few things
before we ski.

Still wondering about something?

Ask a question
Who is coaching best suited for?+

Anyone who wants a patient, personalized path forward. That includes cautious skiers ready to move beyond familiar blues, as well as advanced and expert guests refining carving, mogul, glade, steep-terrain, or off-piste performance.

What disciplines do you teach?+

I teach both alpine skiing and telemark skiing, with PSIA Level 3 certification in both disciplines. Guests beginning telemark should already have at least an intermediate alpine skiing background. As an AASI-certified snowboard instructor, I also welcome first-time snowboarders building balance, speed control, and linked turns.

How many people can join a private lesson?+

A private lesson can include up to five guests. Friends and families are welcome, and your group can mix alpine skiers, snowboarders, and telemark skiers. The day works best when everyone has reasonably compatible goals and ability levels.

Is First Tracks available with a private lesson?+

Yes. First Tracks is an option for private-lesson guests who ski at an intermediate ability or above. Availability and the appropriate lesson details are confirmed through Steamboat Snowsports School for your selected day.

Can we explore Fish Creek Canyon?+

Fish Creek Canyon is never a guaranteed booking objective. I only consider taking a guest there after we’ve skied together and I trust their ability, judgment, communication, and readiness for the terrain. Access, snow, and weather conditions must also support the decision.

What does a typical day look like?+

We start with your goals and a few observation runs, identify the most useful focus, then build it through purposeful tasks and varied terrain.

How do booking and pricing work?+

All lessons are booked through Steamboat Snowsports School. Pricing is day dependent, so the current rate will be confirmed for your preferred date. Send an inquiry with your dates, group details, and goals, and we’ll identify the right lesson before you complete the official booking.
